Policy
In housing and social care, promoting independence, choice
in housing and individual planning are recurring themes. In
order to make this possible a person centred approach to planning
is needed. This in turn should inform service development
and the strategic agenda.
Problems
Too often in the past people have been placed, rather than
offered real choice of where and how they live. Failure to
take account of individual demand leads to poor planning,
unsuitable services and low take up.
- Need ways to plan with people
- Housing and social services separate
- Need housing and support planned together
- Front line housing or care staff often don’t have
the breadth of skill required
- Options considered too limited
- Not using family &community resources
- Making plans deliverable
